Pitching My Business Idea: Garri, Palm Oil & Crayfish Supply Business
Greetings Everyone
For a while now, I’ve been thinking about a business I can start that won’t stress me too much yet has a steady market. After looking around my area and seeing what people buy the most, I realized that garri, palm oil, and crayfish are things almost every household uses every single day. Whether rich or struggling, people still buy these items because they are part of our daily meals. So I decided that if I ever get the chance, I would like to start a small supply business with these three main products.
My idea is to buy garri in bags directly from local women who fry it in the village. Same with palm oil from farmers, because buying straight from the source reduces cost and the quality is usually better. For crayfish, I plan to get them from the main local markets where wholesalers sell fresh and clean ones. After getting these items in bulk, I will measure them into smaller sale portions and supply them to students, workers, and households in my environment.
To start this business properly, I would need around 200,000 to 300,000 naira.
This is how I plan to use it:
-
Buy at least 2 bags of garri
-
Purchase a medium keg of palm oil
-
Get a half bag of crayfish
-
Buy transparent nylon and containers for packaging
-
Transport the goods home and to customers
-
Promote the business with small flyers or social media posts
If I win and the amount is awarded to me, I will immediately travel to the local market to buy the items in bulk and start packaging them. My goal is to start small but make my name known as someone who sells clean, fair, and affordable garri, palm oil, and crayfish. With time, I plan to expand into selling pepper, dry fish, and maybe even beans.
I chose this business because it is not seasonal, the demand is steady, and people trust home supplies better when the seller is consistent and honest. I also love the idea of dealing with foodstuffs because it feels natural and simple for me. I believe this business can grow well if managed properly.

A most excellent idea! Get in where the crowd is and make your mark.
I would highly encourage you consider my past messages i’ve sent to you in regards to your passion for perfume. Remember those posts? Take the same idea and as you are getting into this Garri-Palm-Oil business, utilize the Blurt Blockchain.
Over on the #welcome2blurt community space i posted a topic with videos from Gary Vaynerchuck. Please watch them if you find time, especially the first one, advice to 20 year olds.
Just to get your business mind going, here’s some ideas to help you improve upon your win-win situation:
You are using the blogging side of blurt to promote your work so that when you meet a client you can show them your blurt blog page. When they see your page, they will see the content you’re posting about this business endevour; this is basically direct marketing but without email subscriptions…you do it right on the Blurt blogging side.
Now the video side basically same thing, vlog about your business day in the life, behind the scenes, show up every day and fill up your business portfolio, which is what your Blurt Media can also be. No need for a website. Just a separate account on Blurt soley for your business, or you could do it from your main channel.
The psychology behind this you want to have a good portfolio page where clients can see and read what you’re doing. In the meantime if your sales ain’t going so well in real life, at least you’re still earning from multitasking your content.
Waste no time and never dull a moment.
From someone else’s point of view that’s very encouraging, as you’re showing potential entrepreneurs how to start a business outside of mainstream control and that nothing can stop you from your business dreams. Not the economy in Nigeria, not anywhere. If you are diligent enough people may come to you to learn this from you, and now if you’ve mastered the skills here on Blurt and web3, you can be a consultation and charge people money for helping them set their businesses here on Blurt.
Not to mention being able to use your Blurt page as a shop/store front. Did you know there’s a revolution with Bitcoin happening in Africa? You need to set up either a XMR wallet or a Bitcoin wallet (if you are afraid of owning a 100% private, untrackable, untracable cryptopcurrency then stick with Bitcoin…however since BTC is a public cryptocurrency it means banks and your government can see your bitcoin earnings, and you will get taxed from it…but with XMR, they cannot tax what they don’t know).
If people want to buy your Oilz, you can again advertise your products on your blurt page (no need for a website), and if they want to buy, they can either send you in Blurt (means they need to make a Blurt account, which is another way to onboard people here) or they can send you BTC/XMR/LTC just like that.
You can also sell stuffs for XMR on xmrbazaar.com ; it’s basically an ebay where people buy, sell and trade for XMR. Brave-Smoke only has true faith in XMR, then Blurt, then BTC.
Don’t forget about the Blurt Marketplace too!
What do you guys think @khrom @daretodefy @frankbacon @offgridlife forming businesses using Blurt?
